SPRING TIME AT THE PARK

Sunday 22nd September,2013!!

Waratah Park last Sunday saw volunteers cleaning up ,removing logs,mowing grass and removing weeds!!25 volunteers improved the waratah park bushland environment!! 

Many thanks goes to DFRA and members of Hornsby Bushcare for their continued support and help in the park.Also special thanks to local volunteers and some from outside the metroplitian area as well!!

A great job was completed on the day!!

Waratah Park is the original home of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo!! Still on TV today 47 years later and has been on TV around the world in 128 countries!!

 

We urgently need more volunteers at Waratah Park to help with the maintenance,grass mowing,removal of branches/logs,planting of native seedlings,bush regeneration in sensitive areas!! 

The next Waratah Park working bee/volunteer days are Sunday 13th October,2013 and Sunday 10th November,2013 from 9.00am to 1.00pm !!

WHAT TO WEAR!!!:Protective clothing that covers your arms and legs,wear a hat,a comfortable pair of shoes or boots!!

Bring a pair of gardening gloves, a bottle of drinking water and don't forget the sun screen !!

WHAT TO BRING!!! If you have gardening tools such as pruning saws,bush saws,pruning equipment,mattocks and other digging equipment!!We do have a small supply of bush regeneration and pruning saws available for use on the day!!

Don't go and spend alot of money at the shops!!

HOW TO GET THERE!!!! From St Ives shopping centre you go all the way out on Mona Vale Road to the McCarrs Creek turn off at Terrey Hills (left at the set of lights) then go left through Terrey Hills Shopping Centre on Booralie Road follow this road out past the Terrey Hills Golf Course past the gun club until you come to the Namba Road then  turn right and follow the road all the way down to the green front gates of Waratah Park then drive slowly through the gates until you are at the car park!!

MEMBERSHIP TO WARATAH PARK!!! Nil we only would like your help!! Also lunch is provided!!

ELIGIBILITY OF VOLUNTEERS!!!There is no qualification required but if have a working knowledge of weeds that will be useful.

AGE GROUPS!! All age groups we have a job for everyone!!
