Thank you 12th January

Record numbers of Volunteers attend the Waratah Park Working                                         Bee Sunday,12th January,2014 at WARATAH PARK!!

Thank you 12th January

Some of the 35 Volunteers at Waratah Park on Sunday,12th January,2014!!Removing weeds and  regenerating the native species on site!!

All proud Australians that care about Waratah Park home of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo! (The peoples park!!)

On Sunday,12th January,2014 saw 35 brave volunteers from the Duffys Forest Residents Association lead by Jenny Harris and from the local

residential area,MLC,Hornsby  Bushcare and other very interested and hardworking volunteers from inside and outside the metropolitan area to help Waratah Park in its hour of need !!This is a new record number of volunteers for the park on the day!!

Some of the work performed on the day was removal of stubborn feral and invasive weeds, grass mowing, organic roundup painting of large roots of weeds, removal of vast quantities of weeds to the tip, weeding existing gardens, removing old tree guards, restacking logs and general maintenance of the park!!

Vast areas still need continual maintenance especially during the growing seasons of spring and summer.

Large areas of the park are now weed free but the battle for the park continues. Many hundreds of Australians have contributed to the park over the last 20 months but     the magnificent men, woman and children of Waratah Park continue there quest to save one of Australia's greatest icons and a very important part of the local community of Terrey Hills and Duffys Forest!!

As work continues throughout the year we are still looking for more proud Australians that would like to come and spend a morning in Australia's very own Waratah Park!Thats right where they filmed the original Skippy the Bush Kangaroo TV series and movie. The park hosts some of the most beautiful Australian Bushland and scenic views in Sydney!!

Come along for a look and experience some of Australia's finest and most famous natural bushland that remains and the history that is in the park!!

The next Waratah Park Working Bee will be held on Sunday,9th February,2014 between the hours of 9.00am to 1.00pm!!

Remember this the only time the park is accessible to the public for weed removal purposes!

If you have any enquiries about the park or bringing along a group or family to help us save the park please email Peter Staff on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact
