Waratah Park is located at the end of Duffys Forest on a 13ha park. This venue was where the TV show Skippy was filmed in the late 1960s and early 1970s but was closed in 2006. Below are some photos before the park was closed.
The Duffys Forest Residents Association(DFRA) had concerns about the history and native flora and fauna that would be destroyed due to lack of maintenance.
In 2011, DFRA was awarded temporary authority to undertake beautification, eradication or noxious weeds and hazard reduction/bush fire prevention. Funding from State Government was requested and a smaller than requested amount was awarded. Since then many working bee and hours of labour have been undertaking to try bring this park back to a maintained state. The local German school in Terrey Hills and their students have helped out on several occasions to lend a hand. This is an ongoing project and there are still many hours needed to maintain this park. If you would like to help, working bee dates and flyers will be posted on the front page. You can also become a member and support us financially.
